Miles to Kilometers (Miles to km) Converter
A road-trip distance can look unfamiliar when your map, rental car, and guidebook use different units. One mile equals exactly 1.609344 kilometers. A 60-mile drive is about 96.561 km; the reverse conversion makes a 100 km journey about 62.137 miles.
60 mi = 96.56064 km
Distance conversion does not estimate arrival time. Check local speed units before driving.
Conversion formula

Compare distances without confusing them with journey time
Use the conversion when you compare a route described in miles with a car's kilometer display. It gives the same distance in another unit; it does not predict driving time. City traffic, road conditions, stops, and the type of road can make two journeys of the same length take very different amounts of time.
The same numerical factor applies to miles per hour and kilometers per hour. For example, 60 mph is about 96.561 km/h. Always check which unit your vehicle shows and follow the posted local limit. Do not assume that a sign reading 50 means the same speed as a familiar sign at home. Set your navigation display to local units before starting the drive.
For a rough distance estimate, multiply miles by 1.6 or kilometers by 0.62. Those shortcuts are handy when reading an itinerary, but use the calculator for a closer comparison. This page uses ordinary international land miles, not nautical miles used in aviation and marine navigation. Fuel economy is a separate calculation and is not converted here.
